We are okay!

Published by syren under Uncategorized Edit This

You may have noticed that I have been MIA. The reason being that we are in the hospital for my little guy. Yes, I am writing from the hospital bed while he sleeps on my chest.

We came in on Sunday, after a visit to the after hours clinic. We decided to take him in since he had heavy wheezing. It looked like he was having a difficult time breathing. The doc at the clinic wanted us to go to the emergency and we have been here ever since. (We may also stay another day.)

At first I thought he had asthma, but the doctors say it’s croup. It’s a viral infection that causes difficulty breathing in children. We are in isolation and I am dying to go outside!

I promise to post more details when we get out of here!

And yes, the contest is still on!

9 Month doctor visit

Published by syren under Uncategorized Edit This

My son had an appointment with the doctor yesterday. He is doing great minus a small blotchy red rash on his face. When I asked the doctor about it, I told him I gave the baby peas the other day. My doctor told me to stay away from peas and peanuts as they are in the same family. WOWZA! I had no idea. So for now we are staying away from peas. Thank goodness as he doesn’t like peas anyways!

How to make homemade baby wipes

Published by syren under Tips and Tricks Edit This

Are you looking to save money on baby wipes?Use ingredients you may already have!

A list of things you need include: a roll of paper towel, a sharp (not serrated) knife, 2 cups of water, 1 teaspoon of baby oil, 2 tablespoons of baby soap, mixing spoon, unused wipes container (or other container with lid.)

Here’s what you will need to do:

1.      Cut the roll of paper towel in half. Be VERY careful not to cut yourself. Take the core out. The wipes should pull through the center, like real wipes in a container.

2.      Put the wipes into the container you are using and set it aside.

3.      Boil the water. Let it cool down. Make sure the water stays clean.

4.      Pour the baby oil and baby soap into the water and mix it with the mixing spoon. Make sure the mixture is properly mixed.

5.      Pour the new mixture in the container with the paper towels. Let it soak for 15 minutes.

6.      Once one side is properly soaked, turn the wipes over. This will make sure the mixture is evenly distributed. Leave for another 15 minutes.

The other half of paper towel can be used for your next batch.

Your homemade baby wipes will be chemical freeeeeeeee! Please leave a comment if you have tried my recipe. Tell me how it went.

Up…uuuuup!

Published by syren under Uncategorized Edit This

My 9 month old has found a new favorite word…up! He would wake up in the morning and sit up. The first thing he would say is, “Up..uuup dada!” not “mama” but “dada” for some reason. It’s too cute. Even when I am trying to discipline him, he would look at me and whisper, “uuup.” I try not to burst into laughter, and sometimes I can’t contain it. He says “up” for everything. Sometimes I say, “down” but he stares at me and says his favorite word again.

I love his attention to detail. We examines things from all angles and like to point at the imperfections on my face. He also seems to find tiny specs of dirt in the strangest places. I was holding him the other day, and I notice something in his hands. When his hands are clenched, I know that there is something in there. When I opened his hands, I found some tiny green pieces of something that looked like pebbles. I have absolutely no idea where he found it. And when I asked him where he got it, he looked at me and said, “uuuuuuuuuuuuuuup!!!!”

Spending time with hubby…Part 2

Published by syren under Rants and Raves Edit This

OK, so the fire alarm went off! The funniest thing was that everyone in the theatre just sat there looking around. If it were a real fire, we would have had a tragedy on our hands!

So we walk out of the theatre as the movie did not come on and the alarm did not stop. There must have been huundreds of people waiting to get out the front door, so my husband and I decided to go out the back. We had our tickets, so we knew employees would know we were movie goers. When we went around to the front, there was more chaos. My husband heard some people talking about getting a refund, so we got in line. I knew one of the girls that worked there, so when I got to the front I asked to get a refund on the food. We didn’t even start eating when we were interrupted and I didn’t think it was fair for me to still be out of the money.

We DID get a refund for the food and more. They refunded our movie but still said we could watch it when they came back on. The manager was a bit more sympathetic to our situation and actually gave us 4 free passes. I was happy, but we decided to go home anyways. My movie night was ruined, and I wanted to get home. I was happy though. We got 4 passes, but I don’t know when we will find the time to go again. Undecided

The  reason for the fire alarm was because the popcorn machine was smoking. I’m thinkin, shouldn’t they know how to off the alarm? It wasn’t a real fire… What incompetence…
